Surroundings and day trips

Borgo Corsignano lies at the heart of Casentino Valley, between the medieval Rock of Romena and the Castle of Poppi, not far from Florence, Camaldoli Sanctuary and the evocative echoes of La Verna. After many years of respectful restoration, retaining the characteristic architectural style and using the typical local building material (wood, cotto tiles, stone), the village like "magic" turned into live. Thin brick arches and stone walls raise from the green casket of Casentino and show rich farmhouses, each one with its own court yard in flower.

Casentino valley is the very greenest oasis of the Tuscan Apennines: it keeps its ancient charm and luxuriant nature thanks to lawns in flower, century old villages and thick woods. To fully appreciate the Casentino valley one must try its typical products - honey, castagne, pecorino cheese, fir's "melata" - very famous is the traditional Casentino wool cloth.
